Visit to Alajuela, Costa Rica
Today, Charlie took me to Alajuela by taxi and bus. We began in the central city of Alajuela to see the old buildings, parks, and churches. After walking around the downtown shopping area, Charlie went to Aerocasillas where he receives mail and packages forwarded from a Miami, Florida private courier. After completing his business there, we traveled to City Mall. City Mall is one of the largest USA style shopping center in Central America. The mall just opened in November 2015. Did not shop but did get to eat lunch in the food court and I got to eat McDonald's chicken nuggets, fries, and Coke Zero. After lunch we took taxi back to Atenas bus depot and rode the 2:30 PM bus back to Atenas. Charlie purchased fried chicken to eat with our salads for dinner tonight. As Charlie said in his blog(Charlie's blog), I did not really care for the old city with narrow streets and lots of pedestrian and car congestion. I did enjoy the taxi and bus rides and visiting the City Mall shopping center to eat in the food court and McDonald's. I'm glad I had the experience.

One more big day tomorrow. Charlie is taking me to Jaco beach on the Pacific coast. Not sure what we will do Sunday. Monday is "packing" day. Later in the afternoon, Charlie will take me to the Hampton Inn near the San Jose International Airport where I will stay overnight. My American Airlines flight to Dallas/Fort Worth departs 9:14 AM Tuesday, February 23.

Spring Amtrak Rail Adventure March 27-April 13 - Flying to New Orleans, LA, to travel via Amtrak's City of New Orleans and Empire Builder to Seattle, WA. After a week in Seattle, I will return to New Orleans via Amtrak's Coast Starlight(Sacramento), California Zephyr(Chicago) and City of New Orleans. Return trip is compliments of Amtrak Guest Rewards points I have been earning from all my Amtrak travels for the last few years.
Via Rail and Amtrak Trip to Canada and Albany, NY, May 28 to June 15 - Traveling by Via Rail in Canada to Toronto, Montreal and Halifax, Nova Scotia. Returning to USA via Amtrak for visits to Albany, NY and New Orleans, LA.
