ZOOAVE - A Zoo for Rescue Birds and Animals
Another good day in Costa Rica. Morning began with breakfast on Charlie's terrace with such an amazing view. After breakfast we headed to ZOOAVE in nearby Alajuela to see the birds and other animals that have been rescued by ZOOAVE. Lots of birds and other animals in a tropical setting. We ended our stay eating lunch in Cafe David adjacent to the park. After lunch we returned to Charlie's and spent a free afternoon. Later around 4 PM Charlie's 83 year old neighbor joined us and rode to a restaurant to eat and listed to a country style band FLASHBACK. This band consists of ex-Pats from USA including Nashville who play "oldies" music.
Sunday will be a day of transition. Charlie and I will be touring a coffee farm in the morning with lunch afterward at the farm. Then after a afternoon of rest and preparation, we will travel to Alajuela near the San Jose International Airport to stay overnight at the Hampton Inn. Early Monday morning a van will pick us up to a couple hours ride to a Tortuguero boat launch and then another hour plus boat ride to Laguna Lodge where we will stay two nights. According to Charlie, there will be limited WiFi available in the lodge lobby so my next laptop generated update will be Wednesday night after we return to Charlie's home in Atenas.

Spring Amtrak Rail Adventure March 27-April 13 - Flying to New Orleans, LA, to travel via Amtrak's City of New Orleans and Empire Builder to Seattle, WA. After a week in Seattle, I will return to New Orleans via Amtrak's Coast Starlight(Sacramento), California Zephyr(Chicago) and City of New Orleans. Return trip is compliments of Amtrak Guest Rewards points I have been earning from all my Amtrak travels for the last few years.
Via Rail and Amtrak Trip to Canada and Albany, NY, May 28 to June 15 - Traveling by Via Rail in Canada to Toronto, Montreal and Halifax, Nova Scotia. Returning to USA via Amtrak for visits to Albany, NY and New Orleans, LA.
