Via Rail Canada Trip June 2016 - Halifax South Shore Tour Thursday June 2

Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia, Canada

A great day touring the South Shore south of Halifax today. Visited three small villages and followed the Atlantic Ocean shoreline a couple hours south of Halifax. Enjoyed the day touring with two young German girls and our guide. The photo from Peggy's Cove above is typical of the scenes along the South Shore I experienced today.  Actual population of Peggy's Cove is 35 so the villages along the coast are small indeed. Those who work in the tourist shops commute from out of town. Took lots of photos since we visited so many photographic harbors.  As usual, finding one photo to represent the full day is impossible.

It's was a windy blustery mid 50's day with lots of sunshine. Special thanks to my nephew Mark giving me the warm "Owen Engineering" wind breaker jacket with a hood. That jacket along with thermal undershirt and warm clothes has been a life saver today. Temperatures this week in Halifax have been 70 Monday and Tuesday, mid 60's Wednesday, and mid 50's today.

I pack tonight getting ready for my return trip to Montreal and Toronto on Via Rail's Ocean and Train 63.  Train leaves tomorrow at 1 PM and arrives in Toronto late Saturday afternoon.  I'll look forward to warmer weather.
