Costa Rica February 2016 - American Airlines Flights Booked -  Very Excited to let you know my next really big travel plans.  Today I booked my American Airlines flights to San Jose International in Costa Rica departing Nashville Tuesday, February 9, and returning home Tuesday, February 23.  My friend Charlie Doggett moved to Costa Rica to live this past Christmas Eve 2014 and invited me to come visit.  After the ice and snow in Nashville this past February, I agreed to come in February.  Charlie has been sharing his story on his own blog which you can visit on line HERE.  I know it is still eight months until next February but that will not stop me from getting very excited.

Next Travel Plans for Me - Louisiana July 16 -  I will be driving to my Northwest Louisiana home to spend time with my sisters and other family in Shreveport/Bossier City/Benton area.  I will leave my Nashville home July 16 and overnight in Meridian, MS, and continue home to Louisiana Friday, July 17.  Not definite at this time, but I will probably leave NW Louisiana late July and plan to be home in Nashville by July 31.  I will do a couple blog post updates while on my trip.

Fall is Titans Football Time in Nashville - The NFL football season gets started with training camps and preseason games in August and the regular season games fill September through December with playoffs in January.  Being a 16 year Titans season ticket member I'm committed to being home during the Fall so no planned travel for now.  I'm excited for the Titans' new quarterback Marcus Mariota and looking forward to the beginning of his NFL career.  ALOHA MARCUS!  ALOHA TITANS!

AMTRAK ADVENTURE MAY 2015 - Twelve Photo Galleries added to Reagan's Photo Galleries - After an adventurous 19 days visiting New Orleans, LA; Glenwood Springs, CO; Emeryville/San Francisco, CA, and Denver, CO traveling four separate overnight trips via Amtrak's City of New Orleans and California Zephyr, I am home in Nashville/Franklin, TN.  I've added twelve photo galleries to Reagan's Photo Galleries in the Amtrak Adventure May 2015 sub folder within the Rail Trips folder. AMTRAK ADVENTURE 2015 - Dark and Stormy Denver, CO - I arrived to a dark and stormy night in Denver Thursday night(June 4) five hours late 11:45 PM.  While I waited for a taxi it was hailing during a thunderstorm.  Rain continued through Friday morning and finally there was sunshine about 3 PM.  I ventured out to the 16th Street mall with FreeRide buses for dinner and a walk.  I am staying in a very nice Homewood Suites.  Here are a few photos from Denver:

Amtraking from Emeryville detouring through Wyoming to Denver - Began my last leg of this Amtrak adventure leaving Emeryville Wednesday morning.  Due to annual track work in Colorado Rockies, we detoured from Salt Lake City to Denver through Wyoming - an 18 hour journey with zero opportunities to get off and take a fresh air break. As we approached Colorado north of Fort Collins, we entered the stormy evening Colorado's Denver area was experiencing.  Due to excessive freight traffic we were five hours late arriving so I did not reach my hotel until after midnight. I've got a very comfortable spacious room in the Homewood Suites in downtown Denver so enjoyed sleeping a little late and hanging out in my room during the rainy morning hours.  Thunderstorms continue in the forecast but the sun did come out this afternoon and I took a stroll down 16th Street Mall for early dinner and exercise.

Time to go home -- I'm headed home to Nashville on American Airlines tomorrow Saturday departing Denver at 11:10 AM MT connecting in Dallas/Fort Worth to Nashville.  Schedule arrival is 4:55 PM.  Looking forward to being home and worshiping with my Forest Hills Baptist Church family Sunday.

AMTRAK ADVENTURE 2015 - San Francisco and Movie "San Andreas" - I adventured to San Francisco today by train and ferry.  And then after I returned to Emeryville, I walked to the IMAX theater to see the movie "San Andreas".  Probably not a smart thing to do going to this movie while spending a couple days in the area of the San Andreas Fault.  Fortunately, no earthquake so far.  

My ferry took me to the Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco. Of course, the highlight was visiting Ghirardelli Square and the soda shop where I treated myself to a hot fudge sundae.  So not watching my sugar today.

My Amtrak journey continues tomorrow Wednesday and Thursday.  Boarding the eastbound California Zephyr 9 AM traveling to Denver, CO.  Scheduled Denver arrival is 6 PM Thursday.  Since I'll be retracing my westbound trip, I've decided to give my camera a two day break.  I'll bring my camera back out Friday during my day in Denver.

Amtrak's California Zephyr arriving Glenwood Springs, CO

AMTRAK ADVENTURE 2015 -  Colorado to California - Sunday afternoon(May 31) I boarded the California Zephyr leaving Glenwood Springs, CO, and the month of May 2015 bound for Emeryville, CA, and welcoming the month of June.  Amtrak safely transported me from Colorado through Utah and Nevada to California.  I arrived on time this afternoon 4 PM Pacific Time.  Enjoyed having Sleeping Car Attendant "Robert" again for this trip.  He was also my attendant on the California Zephyr last July on the trip when we were 5 hours late partly due to pulling five private cars at the end of that train.
